Release date: 09.10.2025

A curator’s hour for first-year students, dedicated to the prevention of extremism and terrorism, was held at the Medical Academy of Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov. The event was organized by Larisa Nakova, associate professor of the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Virology, and Diana Shorova, assistant professor in the Department.

«Terrorism sows fear, leads to loss of life, ruins lives, and undermines the foundations of public safety. Our task is to understand the nature of this threat and know how to counter it,» noted Larisa Nakova.

Kristina Lopatina, Director of the Career Development Center at Kabardino-Balkarian State University, emphasized the importance of safe online behavior:

«Fraudsters can use information from public profiles for phishing attacks or identity theft, which will damage not only your reputation but also your financial well-being. Therefore, we strongly recommend that graduates and students approach any information they post online with the utmost care.»

The students watched documentary footage of the tragic events in Nalchik in 2005 and heard eyewitness accounts of the terrorist attack in Beslan in 2004.

At the end of the discussion, Magomet Eleev and Murat Teberdiev, specialists from the Coordination Center for the Development of Active Civic Positions in Youth, the Prevention of Interethnic and Interfaith Conflicts, Countering the Ideology of Terrorism, and the Prevention of Extremism at KBSU, emphasized the importance of such meetings for developing active civic positions in young people.
