Expanding Horizons: MGIMO and KBSU Strengthen Cooperation within All-Russian Academic Mobility
As part of an initiative to develop inter-university all-Russian academic mobility aimed at enriching the educational process and fostering flexible career paths, students from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) of the Russian Foreign Ministry made a return visit to Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov.
Previously, a delegation of KBSU students had already familiarized themselves with MGIMO’s educational opportunities, in particular, with presentations of competencies in Western and Asian languages. During that visit, joint projects were initiated aimed at improving student self-government and extracurricular activities, as well as sharing best practices in youth policy.
The inter-university career guidance academic mobility program, launched by MGIMO in 2021, aims not only to provide career guidance and develop individual career paths, but also to create a unified educational environment uniting Russia’s best universities. This allows students and graduates to access educational programs at other universities, learn from leading specialists, and contribute to the unification of educational standards across the country.
As part of the program, Professor Alexey Abazov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, gave a lecture to MGIMO students on «Caucasian Studies in the Humanities: Trends and Prospects,» emphasizing the importance of regional studies in the context of modern humanities.
Ratmir Kotsev, Director of the Career Development Center at KBSU, presented a model for the university’s interaction with students aimed at preparing them for the labor market. Particular attention was paid to practical skills in writing professional resumes and developing competencies sought by employers.
Zalina Gergova, Head of the Educational Work Department at KBSU, noted that participation in the All-Russian Academic Mobility Program offers students and staff unique opportunities for professional growth, broadening their horizons, and establishing valuable professional connections with representatives of leading Russian universities.
«For KBSU, the All-Russian Academic Mobility Program is a strategic asset that enhances its prestige, educational quality, and competitiveness. This new stage of academic mobility will be an important step in developing highly qualified specialists prepared for the challenges of the future,» Gergova emphasized.
MGIMO students will spend a week at KBSU. During this time, they will be able to familiarize themselves not only with the university’s educational offerings but also with its infrastructure.
