“Do You Speak Russian?” KBSU Foreign Students Answer: “Da!”

More than 100 students from 17 groups of the preparatory department of the Higher School of International Education of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H. M. Berbekov took part in the Russian language competition in the 2018/2019 school year.

12 nominations of the Olympiad, in which representatives from more than 20 countries competed, were divided into two stages — written and oral.

On June 10, all those who wished to take part in the competition for the best essay on one of the topics: “My future profession” or “My homeland”. On the same day, two more written nominations were tested — on the knowledge of synonyms and antonyms.

On June 17, foreign listeners of the preparatory department of the Higher School of Law and Management of the KBSU from the stage of the Cultural Center. Kh. S. Temirkanova KBSU demonstrated their talents in mastering the «great and mighty» and completely new to them Russian.

More than 50 numbers in the nominations «Best Reader», «Best Song», «Proverbs and sayings contest», «Skorogorovok contest», «KVN», «Theater», «Dance», «Music», «Best presentation of the group» were presented to a very fair jury composed of Albert Shapsigov, director of the Higher School of Economics and Management of the KBSU, Oksana Khavpacheva, deputy director of the Higher School of Law and Management of the Russian language for foreign students at the KBSU, Lyudmila Abazova, associate professors of the Russian language department for foreign students at the KBSU Zaurizat Dzhankhotova and Marita Unezheva.

Before the start of competitive performances, Albert Shapsigov, Director of the Higher School of Management and Management of the KBSU, addressed his charges with words of encouragement:

“It is a great honor for our university that such good, bright, intelligent, educated people learn from us. Russian is really a great language. And every minute you spend studying it will bring you great benefit in the future. Our university is very pleased to open the door to the treasury of the Russian language, rich in culture, art and communication. And we are happy to attend this Olympiad today. Good luck to all and maximum pleasure. »

The performances of the children showed their genuine interest not only in Russian culture, but also in the culture of indigenous peoples living in Kabardino-Balkaria. And the guys tried to convey to the audience one very important idea that the world is a flower with petal countries. And that means the world is one!

The jury determined the winners in each of the nominations. The best foreign students of VSHMO KBSU were awarded with certificates and memorable gifts from the university.
