Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Olga Petrova visited KBSU

A meeting of deputy minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Olga Petrova with representatives of the republic’s university community, participants in youth programs and activists was held at the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov.

The guest was welcomed in national traditions. Cultural centers and foreign students of KBSU prepared a rich program, presented traditional dishes, songs and dances.

The main business part of the visit was held in the format of an open dialogue between Olga Petrova and the management of KBSU, teachers and student activists. The key topics were the development of student self-government, the implementation of state policy in the field of education and youth work.

Your visit emphasizes the importance of cooperation between educational institutions and government agencies. We are confident that our joint efforts will help us solve urgent problems facing the education system and create conditions for training highly qualified specialists who can contribute to the development of our society,

Olga Petrova expressed gratitude to the university and especially noted the harmonious integration of Kabardino-Balkaria traditions into the university’s policy.

I have long wanted to get to know the university that is implementing many innovative projects. It is a great honor for me to be here and express my gratitude for your work aimed at implementing state policy. I would also like to note the work of the rector and his team, who create conditions for the development of the university and participate in federal initiatives. It is important that our students not only gain knowledge, but also understand their role as citizens of a great country. Kabardino-Balkaria traditions are integrated into the university’s policy, which allows you to share best practices with other educational institutions,

— Olga Viktorovna addressed the university’s teaching staff.

The deputy minister also noted that the key tasks should be solved at the university site — the realization of the potential of each person, technological leadership and support for family policy.

The minister of Youth Affairs of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic Azamat Lyuev spoke about the relevance of the stated topic. He recalled the classic missions of the university, such as education and science, and the importance of the third mission — public, aimed at the development of society.

Head of the Department of Regional Interaction of the «Movement of the First» Olga Negrova spoke about the importance of career guidance.

We see a good example of how graduates of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University work for the benefit of their region. The guys, working with schoolchildren as mentors, demonstrate the attractiveness of the university and help ensure a smooth transition to higher education,

Chairman of the primary branch of the «Movement of the First» of KBSU Alim Boziev spoke about the activities of the Council of University Students and Scientific Organizations under the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia in the North Caucasus Federal District and the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic. The heads of the student councils of KBSU, NCHI, KBGAU shared the best practices of student self-government of their universities. The meeting ended with a question and answer session with Olga Petrova.

Olga Petrova’s visit coincided with the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow. Together with the university staff, the deputy minister took part in the ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to the employees, teachers and students of the university who died during the Great Patriotic War.

Olga Petrova also got acquainted with the capabilities of the university, having visited the overview tour of the University Boiling Point, the center of progressive materials and additive technologies, the student center «Altair», in the mother and child room.
