Release date: 23.06.2021

June 22, on the day of the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, at the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H. M. Berbekov held a number of events dedicated to this mournful date.

At 4 o’clock in the morning at the «Eternal Flame of Glory» memorial an international patriotic action «Candle of Memory» took place. Students and teachers of the medical college of KBSU brought there a symbolic fire lit at the monument to teachers and students of the medical school who died during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

And at 9 o’clock, a flower-laying ceremony was held at the monument to the employees, teachers and students of KBSU, who fell during the Great Patriotic War, located in the university park. To pay tribute to those who defended our country in the fight against the hated enemy, representatives of the university administration headed by the acting rector of KBSU Yuri Altudov, chairman of the Council of Veterans of KBSU Khasan Shurdumov and activists from among the students gathered.

On June 22, 1941, at 4 o’clock in the morning, Nazi Germany treacherously attacked the Soviet Union, unleashing the bloodiest war in history. It lasted 4 years and claimed 27 million lives of Soviet people, including 40 thousand residents of Kabardino-Balkaria, 144 people from the staff, teachers and students of KBSU.
Any war is horror, grief and death. There is no family that would remain indifferent to this date. On this Day, we bow our heads to the blessed memory of those who, in fierce battles, defended the freedom and independence of the Fatherland, gave us the opportunity to live and rejoice in our beautiful land! The workers of the rear deserve no less gratitude, who, not sparing themselves, forged victory with their selfless labor.

On this mournful day, let us honor the memory of our ancestors who passed away from us, who gave their lives for happiness and freedom! Low bow to you, brave, brave people who protected the world from evil!

— said Hasan Shurdumov.

After the laying of flowers, everyone honored the memory of the victims with a minute of silence.

At 14 o’clock in the center of culture named after H.S. Temirkanov passed a literary and musical composition «Nobody is forgotten, nothing is forgotten», prepared by students and teachers of the social and humanitarian institute.

The guest of honor was the chairman of the Council of Veterans of the city of Nalchik, Mustafa Abdulaev, who noted that, having started the war with the Soviet Union, Hitler dreamed of ending it in a matter of months, but he miscalculated, faced with the uncompromising and fierce resistance of the Soviet people.

«The Nazis received their first crushing blow near Moscow — this was the beginning of the end of the Third Reich. The Nazis did not go further. But the victory in the Great Patriotic War was given to us very dearly, at the cost of millions of lives. Our task today is to remember the feat of the victors of fascism, to preserve their memory and to keep the peace,» — Mustafa Kamalovich urged students.

Vice-rector of KBSU for personnel, organizational and legal issues Murat Gukepshokov also drew the attention of young people to how important it is to study their history, not to succumb to provocations and not to listen to those who want to turn the historical truth upside down, belittling the merits of the USSR in the victory over the Nazis …

«There is no people who are higher than another people, there is no person who is higher than another person. Only philanthropy can save our world,» — Murat Gukepshokov is sure.

The program of literary and musical composition included well-known historical facts about the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, about the defenders of the Brest Fortress, Odessa, about the heroism shown by Soviet people in the first days of the war, and others. The students listed the names of all 26 Heroes of the Soviet Union and 6 full holders of the Order of Glory of Kabardino-Balkaria. Heartfelt poems and songs about the war sounded from the stage. At the end of the performance, popular singers Eldar Dymov and Aslan Biev performed the legendary «Cranes» in three languages: Kabardian, Balkarian and Russian.

The final part of the cultural program of the Day of Memory and Mourning at KBSU is the play «Don’t Leave Me», staged by the student theater «Curtain» (19.00, hall of the H.S. Temirkanov Cultural Center).
