Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov held an educational event to mark International Day of Pregnant Women. The event focused on the principles of conscious parenting and fostering a responsible approach to raising a healthy generation.

As part of the event, future doctors learned about key aspects of preparing for pregnancy: from the basic rules of a healthy lifestyle to modern medical examination methods. The speakers discussed in detail the steps needed to lay the foundation for a healthy future child from the very first days.

Professor Rashid Zhetishev, Head of the Department of Pediatrics, Obstetrics, and Gynecology at Kabardino-Balkarian State University, neonatologist, pediatrician, and professor Zukhra Uzdenova, Honored Doctor of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, discussed the importance of a healthy lifestyle, monitoring women’s health, maintaining a balanced diet, maintaining physical activity, and ensuring psychological well-being for pregnant women.

«Pregnancy planning and preparing a woman’s body well in advance for bearing a healthy baby are of paramount importance, as the baby in the womb is completely dependent on her body,» emphasized Zukhra Uzdenova.

The gynecologist noted that a comprehensive examination of expectant parents will allow them to assess their health and identify in advance any factors that could complicate conception, the course of pregnancy, or negatively impact the health of the child. Those expecting to become parents are advised to give up bad habits, control their weight, avoid stressful situations, get adequate sleep (at least 8 hours a night), and exercise regularly. Moderate physical activity helps increase stress resilience, improves circulation, breathing, and oxygenation, which creates favorable conditions for conception.

Rashid Zhetishev, in turn, emphasized the importance of proper nutrition for the birth of a healthy child. He recommended expectant mothers eat a regular, yet moderate, and balanced diet, drink enough fluids, and take vitamin supplements. These measures will help replenish any potential nutrient deficiencies and prevent depletion during pregnancy.
