Career prospects in Russia and abroad were discussed at a round table at KBSU
October 20 at the «Boiling Point» of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov, within the framework of the program of strategic academic leadership «Priority 2030», together with the Financial University under the Government of Russia, a round table «Career growth strategies» was held.
In order to encourage students to study foreign languages, improve language competence and exchange views on career development, the meeting was held in English in a mixed face-to-face and remote format. Teachers and students of KBSU in the areas of law, economics and finance, artificial intelligence and digital technologies, sociology, medicine, employees and students of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, as well as graduates of both universities who have made successful careers, showed off their business communication skills in English and shared their observations about the importance of linguistic skills. Invited speakers shared their experience of learning the language.
Head of the Grants Department, Candidate of Historical Sciences Asker Tumov spoke about his experience of studying abroad in a master’s program in English. Students learned about the work of the Business Development Director in Africa from KBSU graduate Astemir Karmov. Anzor Abazov, Disana Guchapsheva, Asiyat Tarchokova, Amina Tarchokova also spoke about the use and role of communication skills in English in career growth. Idar Kumykov joined the video conference from Austria, he spoke about his work at Raiffeisen Bank and his life abroad. He shared life hacks for eliminating language barriers at work and at home. He recommended improving knowledge of the language continuously, even if it seems that this is not necessary, but at some point in life this skill can effectively and profitably “shoot”, and it is simply necessary to work abroad.
«I am glad that the students of KBSU showed a good level of English proficiency, competently asked questions to the students of the partner university and reasonably answered their questions. This was the first experience of the event within the framework of cooperation, and it was held at a fairly high level, which was noted, among other things, by the teachers of the Financial University», — the organizer of the round table, Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages Rita Kenetova shared her impressions. As part of the agreement, it is also planned to hold a master’s conference in English with the publication of materials in the RSCI journal.
