At KBSU, they talked about the danger of excessive enthusiasm for social networks

October 19 at the Boiling Point of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov held a combined curatorial hour for 1-3-year students of the Institute of Pedagogy, Psychology and Physical Culture and Sports Education as part of the «Help Yourself» project on the prevention of destructive behavior in young people caused by the influence of social networks. How to prevent and minimize the negative impact of social networks on relationships in the youth environment and learn the rules of safe behavior on the Internet, said Budimir Nagoev, candidate of psychological sciences, associate professor of IPPiFSO.

“Today information has become closer to a person. We can always and everywhere use the Internet to find the information we need. But, as they say, not all that glitters is gold. This will be our conversation,” — the teacher addressed the audience. The psychologist explained how teenagers fall under the influence of experienced manipulators on social networks, whose goal is to subdue as many people as possible in order to use them to their advantage. And this is not only the well-known «Group of Death», where children are first involved in a harmless game, and as a result they are driven to suicide, these are also the same online trading platforms, where with the help of advertising they siphon money from naive users, popular bloggers whose hype behavior is not the best example of young people.

“Realizing what is behind this, you need to ask yourself questions: is it really important to me, does it meet my needs? You need to learn to understand what is worth your attention and what can be missed as harmful content, ”the psychologist advised the young people. Budimir Nagoev also focused the attention of the audience on the fact that, as a rule, children from wealthy families with good incomes fall under the negative influence of dangerous communities on the Internet. This means that with children, you must always combine dialogue, trust and control of the circle of influence.

“The task of parents is to educate a person who has such qualities as activity, adequacy and adaptability,” the psychologist believes. When asked from the audience why there are young terrorists who organize massacres with weapons in their hands, Budimir Borisovich replied: “A bad example is contagious. Unfortunately, for some representatives of the younger generation, false heroes become idols. To do something exceptional, to feel your significance for at least an hour is what drives many of them. And this is without taking into account mental abnormalities and environmental factors.»

At the end of the conversation, the psychology teacher advised the young listeners to pay close attention to their publications on social networks, since «interested people, looking at your accounts, can use any information that you post against you.»
