At a meeting of the scientific circle, KBSU medical students discussed issues of boosting immunity

The Department of Microbiology, Virology, and Immunology of the Medical Academy of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov held a regular meeting of the student scientific circle. Fourth-year students majoring in Pediatrics prepared reports and participated in a discussion on the development of immunotherapy products based on microbial cell walls. Elena Aliyeva, MD, professor at the Russian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education and Deputy Chair of the Association of Medical Microbiologists of the Russian Federation, served as the scientific director of the meeting.

Practicing infectious disease specialists and medical microbiologists from various medical institutions in the republic also participated in the scientific circle. The specialists highly praised the quality of the KBSU students’ presentations and shared their experiences, presenting specific clinical cases demonstrating the importance of selecting immunotropic therapy. They also discussed issues related to antibiotic resistance.

In conclusion, Zaira Kharaeva, Head of the Department of Microbiology, Virology, and Immunology at KBSU and Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, thanked Elena Aliyeva on behalf of the department staff for her work with young researchers. She also expressed hope for future meetings of student research groups, inviting invited specialists.
