Architect’s Day was celebrated at KBSU

October 2, 2023 Institute of Architecture, Construction and Design of Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov celebrated Architect’s Day.

The history of the professional holiday of all architects, which originated in 1985, was told to the first-year students of the Institute of Architecture and Design of KBSU by the head of the department of Architectural Engineering, Design and DPI, Khazret Guketlov:

Then, at a meeting of the International Union of Architects, World Architecture Day was established on July 1. In 1996, at the XX General Assembly of the UIA, held in Barcelona, the holiday was moved to the first Monday in October. Thus, it turned out to be connected with World Habitat Day, which is dedicated to living conditions in populated areas,

— explained Khazret Guketlov.

The fact that an architect is one of the most ancient and at the same time always one of the most popular professions was proved by vivid examples by the architect, candidate of technical sciences, associate professor of the department of Architectural Engineering, Design and DPI, Valery Khuranov. He showed the students his projects implemented in Kabardino-Balkaria. Among them are the Memorial Arch of Friendship in Nalchik, the reconstruction of the Green Theater in Nalchik, a mosque in the village. Malka, the “Success” school in Nalchik, the “Indy” bistro in the KBSU area. The architect showed the first-year students successful projects of students to improve courtyard areas. The teacher encouraged the children to be active, independently search for competitions on the Internet, participate and win.

A young and promising architect, a member of the Architects of the Russian Federation platform, a graduate of DSTU, an employee of the architectural bureau “Dakha” Edward Geduev, and a graduate of KBSU in the field of “Architecture” – Tamir Dishek came to share their professional successes with the students.

At the end of the meeting, Khazret Guketlov wished the architectural students success in their studies and creative inspiration.
