Appeal on the occasion of the day of deportation of the Balkar people
Dear teachers, staff and students of KBSU!
March 8, 1944 is considered a «black» day for the Balkar people, when the ethnic group was forcibly evicted from their homeland to Central Asia and Kazakhstan. Thousands of people were deprived of their homes and property, many died. The Balkar people withstood severe trials thanks to their diligence, exceptional stamina, indomitable will to live and the good support of the local population. Only on April 28, 1956, the restrictions on the legal status of the Balkars were lifted, the settlers began to return to the land of their ancestors, where they successfully joined the process of creation for the sake of a better future for their children. We remember the tragic date of March 8, 1944 and bow our heads before the blessed memory of the deportation victims. We wish peace and prosperity to the Balkar people, every inhabitant of Kabardino-Balkaria, prosperity to our republic.
