A strategic technology project, «Development of Advanced Polymer Materials and Their Production Technologies for Strategically Important Industries,» was successfully defended at the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov. The event, held in the Academic Council meeting room, was conducted as an interview as part of the Priority 2030 program review.

The project was presented to the expert committee by a team led by Svetlana Khashirova, vice-rector for Research, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor, and head of the Center for Advanced Materials and Additive Technologies (CAMP). She was joined in the defense by key department heads: Azamat Zhansitov, director of the Office of Technological Leadership, and Ismel Musov and Zhanna Kurdanova, senior research fellows at the center.

Representatives of the project’s industrial partner, SIBUR-Innovations, participating in the committee’s work. The partner was represented by Valentin Shaposhnikov, Senior Manager and Coordinator of University and Research Institute Relations, and Nikolai Kolosov, Director of the Polyolefins Directorate.

The experts evaluated the project based on several key criteria. The focus was on the scientific novelty of the developments and their potential for achieving technological leadership. The potential for practical application of the project’s results in strategically important industrial sectors and their future market prospects were also considered.

The qualifications of the research team and the established management system for such a complex project were discussed separately. The KBSU team answered questions in detail regarding the analysis of potential technological, financial, and organizational risks. Significant time was devoted to discussing the effectiveness of internal communication between the project participants and partners.

The successful defense confirmed the high level of project preparation and its readiness for implementation. This event marks an important step in the development of applied science at KBSU and strengthens the university’s position as a center of excellence in the creation of new materials.
