A strategic session on the development of the UAS industry is being held at KBSU

Release date: 14.08.2024

On August 13, 2024, a strategic educational session «Regional program for the development of the unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) industry» was launched at the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov with the participation of representatives of regional executive authorities and federal experts.

The event will highlight the prospects for the use of unmanned aircraft systems in various sectors of the economy, including the role of research and production centers in the development of the industry, and a practice-oriented and economically feasible approach to the formation of the concept for the development of unmanned aviation.

As noted by the head of the analysis and development center of the ANO «Federal Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems» Dmitry Letunov, the main task of federal experts is to assess the potential and prospects of the region and focus on ensuring that this potential is revealed.

We visited KBSU, it is a great university with promising areas, both in robotics and machine tool building. We will discuss and work out the issue of the possibility of opening an unmanned direction at the university in order to train personnel not only for drone control. The main task is to learn how to develop, build and maintain them,

— commented Dmitry Letunov.

Let us recall that on January 1, 2024, the national project «Unmanned Aircraft Systems» (UAS) was launched in Russia, defining the strategy for the development of unmanned aviation for the period up to 2030-2035. In the next six years, a promising independent branch of the economy associated with the creation and use of civilian drones should appear in the country. The use of drones will complement or replace traditional business processes and solve production problems with greater efficiency. Accordingly, it is planned to create a research and production center in Kabardino-Balkaria, the task of which is to develop, manufacture and service unmanned aircraft systems.

On the first day of the strategic educational session at KBSU, meetings were held with the region’s top officials and technology partners to determine the development zones of the regional program. Then the educational part continued at the Boiling Point of KBSU.

As explained by Tanzilya Makhieva, vice-rector of KBSU for Promising Projects, along with the design session «Opportunities and Prospects of the Region in the Development of the UAS Industry», a regional assembly «Regional Program for the Development of the UAS Industry» will be held (August 14).

August 15 — design session «University in the System of Training Personnel for UAS» (industry ecosystem of personnel training, key milestones and reference points for the implementation of the regional program, the backlog and capabilities of the region, performance indicators). In the afternoon, employees of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic and the My Business Center in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic will take part in a meeting with potential residents and graduates of the university. The issues proposed for discussion include: demand, sales markets, support measures (acceleration, business incubators, startup studios, grants, funds), etc.

Design sessions in various areas will begin on August 16. Representatives of regional executive authorities, employees of ministries and departments, industrial partners, and KBSU employees will take part in the work on the concept. A presentation of preliminary results is planned for this day.

The visiting session will be held on August 17 at the Elbrus Educational and Scientific Complex (familiarization with the testing grounds, formation of the development concept).
