Release date: 02.10.2025

Asiyat Zhurtova, Director of the Higher School of International Education at Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov, introduced international students from Central Asian countries and the Eurasian Economic Union to the materials of a comprehensive adaptation course developed this year by the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The goal is to help international students better understand the specifics of life in Russia, become familiar with their rights and responsibilities, and avoid potential legal violations. The first lecture addressed key issues related to the stay of foreign citizens in Russia.

Particular attention was paid to the new immigration regulations that came into force in 2025. Students were explained how these changes affect their status and future plans. Employment issues were also discussed, including how to properly enter into contracts and what guarantees the law provides to protect workers. This information is especially useful for those planning to combine study with work.

In addition to legal aspects, issues of sociocultural adaptation were discussed. The specifics of Russian traditions, norms of behavior, and communication, which contribute to successful integration into society, were examined.

Finally, the historical context of Russia’s relations with the countries of Central Asia was presented, emphasizing the importance of cultural exchange and mutual respect.
