A round table “Gender equality is the basis of sustainable development” was held at KBSU as part of the II North Caucasus Legal Forum

October 19 at Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh. M. Berbekov, within the framework of the II North Caucasus Legal Forum, a round table “Gender equality is the basis of sustainable development” was held.

The organizers of the UNESCO Department of KBSU and the KB RO of the All-Russian public organization “Russian Lawyers Association” presented, on the one hand, an educational program of mentors for university staff and students, and on the other hand, a scientific and practical student seminar of the UNESCO Department.

The purpose of the discussion is to draw public attention to pressing issues of sustainable development of the republic, which are based on the development of human potential of the present and the future. The round table participants examined issues related to ensuring gender equality and the empowerment of women, promoting sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all, and also reviewed UNESCO’s position in the field of education and gender equality.

The moderator was the chairman of the regional branch of the Association of Lawyers of Russia, Ph.D., Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law. Head of the KBSU Scientific and Educational Center for the Development of Civil Society Emma Kazgerieva, who presented the manifesto of the Russian Lawyers Association and outlined the importance of interaction between public organizations, government authorities, and the education system.

Assistant to the rector, professor, doctor of geographical sciences Sergei Shagin, on behalf of the leadership of KBSU, welcomed the meeting participants and emphasized the importance of the topic brought up for discussion. The speaker noted that in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, a woman leader is a common occurrence. At the same time, he emphasized the leading role of women in maintaining the institution of the family, in providing warmth and home comfort.

Anna Kumakhova, head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, member of the Law Firm, spoke about the peculiarities of organizing the work of a modern female leader, related to her mentality. In her opinion, a woman leader is distinguished by a responsible attitude to her responsibilities and the ability to multitask. She emphasized that a woman’s success largely depends on those around her and family members. Their support and ability to change the emphasis in relationships towards equality and partnership determine the opportunity to achieve heights in their careers.

A striking example of a successful woman in the system of government is the guest of honor of the round table, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic Olga Beletskaya, who has a long experience of holding a responsible position in the Ministry of Economic Development, remaining the personification of the feminine principle in the family and society.

Welcoming those gathered, the Deputy Minister noted the importance of cooperation between the Ministry of Economic Development of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic and Kabardino-Balkarian State University, the fruitful participation of teachers in the work of the ministry and wished the students present to find and fully realize themselves in modern society.

In the joint report “Ensuring gender equality and empowering women in the system of sustainable development goals of the world community and Russia”, head of the department of constitutional and administrative law, candidate of legal sciences, associate professor, head of the UNESCO department of KBSU Alim Bogatyrev and senior lecturer of the department of economics and accounting and analytical information systems, consultant of the UNESCO Department Emma Abanokova spoke about UNESCO’s tasks in maintaining gender equality, formulated a proposal for the development and implementation of monitoring public opinion on the role of women in modern society among men and women of different age categories in order to clarify current trends in development question.

Among the main tasks in achieving the sustainable development goal “Gender Equality”, the speakers noted the need to eliminate all forms of discrimination against all women and girls around the world; eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls in the public and private spheres, including human trafficking, sexual and other forms of exploitation; Recognize and value unpaid care and household work by providing public services, infrastructure and social protection systems and promoting the principle of shared responsibility in the home and family, taking into account national circumstances; ensure women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic and public life; implement reforms to give women equal rights to economic resources, as well as access to ownership and control of land and other forms of property, financial services, inheritance and natural resources, in accordance with national laws; make more active use of highly efficient technologies, in particular information and communication technologies to promote women’s empowerment; Adopt and strengthen sound policies and enforceable laws to promote gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls at all levels.

As part of the discussion panel “Woman in the Family,” the President of the Notary Chamber of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, member of the Association of Legal Entities Maya Khakulova spoke about how the notary system developed, how the face of a female notary was formed in the history of the profession. Speaking about gender equality, Maya Khasanovna noted the importance of partnership and joint development of men and women in the family.

The discussion was continued by Associate Professor of the Department of Civil Law and Procedure, consultant to the UNESCO Department, member of the Law Society Diana Kokova. In the report “The principle of equality of men and women in family legal relations: using the example of family law agreements in notarial practice,” she noted the importance of family and marital relations in the development of each state, the equal position of men and women in raising children, the inadmissibility of discrimination against women in the family and society .

The discussion panel “Legal support and protection of women’s rights” evoked a lively response from the audience.

The assistant to the head of the department for observance of human rights in the penal system, colonel of the internal service, Rita Tekaeva, in her report “Issues of protecting women’s rights in different life situations,” spoke about the difficulties of staying in places of deprivation of liberty for women who, by the will of fate, ended up there. Rita Mazhmudinovna emphasized that the Department provides comprehensive support to women in difficult life situations, and noted the willingness of its employees to be in touch with them around the clock.

The conversation was continued by the deputy director of the SO NGO “Institute of Youth Initiatives”, member of the Public Chamber of the KBR, executive secretary of the Public Monitoring Commission Alka Sozaeva. The speaker briefly spoke about the PSC of the KBR, about the procedure for forming this commission, about the work that is being carried out: from providing assistance to a convicted person or person under investigation in places of deprivation of liberty (legal and advocacy assistance), to assistance to their families. In general, we are talking about the humanization and resocialization of convicts, on the basis of which preventive work is already being carried out in these directions. The active civic position of the commission and its participants is the main driving force in helping women in difficult life situations.

Zhanna Tengizova, Ph.D. in Law, Associate Professor of the Department of Organization of Law Enforcement Activities of the Krasnodar University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, spoke about the work of free legal assistance centers of the Kabardino-Balkarian regional branch of the All-Russian public organization “Association of Lawyers of Russia”. Issues of social benefits, employment of women themselves, placement of children in kindergartens, assistance in preparing legal documents, material support — these are just some of the problems with which women in need turn to the FLA centers.

It should be noted that law students are involved in working with socially vulnerable citizens and women, among others. This practice allows you to feel the “living” law and appreciate the social mission of a lawyer in the development of civil society.

Maya Nartyzheva, a member of the Expert Platform at the regional branch of Business Russia, lawyer, head of the personnel and legal service of the State Budgetary Healthcare Institution “Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS and IZ”, gave a report on current issues of protecting women in medical care centers.

Speaking about the role of a modern woman in society, one cannot fail to mention her role in science and invention.

The head of the Center for Support of Technologies and Innovations of the Department of Scientific Research and Innovation Activities of KBSU, Maryana Marzhokhova, in her report “Bridging the Gender “Gap” in the Field of Intellectual Property” spoke about the outstanding successes of women inventors of the KBR in the development of national and international fundamental science. Women and girls — employees of the center are actively developing support for scientific research and research of university scientists. The Center is a leader among Rospatent structures.

The head of the Center for Cultural Development, Saida Zhanimova, took part in the discussion “Creative Femininity”, who said that now, within the framework of national projects, a lot is being done to support the development of women, girls and girls. On the site of the center there are leisure and development clubs for women of the “silver” age and youth. These include dancing, language schools, and psychological help clubs. The speaker invited everyone to join the cultural and educational programs of the center.

It should be noted that the Center for Cultural Development actively cooperates with the UNESCO Department of KBSU and AYUR.

Gender issues are reflected in the scientific research of KBSU staff.

In the report “Androcentrism and gender asymmetry in language (based on the Russian, English and Kabardian-Circassian languages)”, head. Department of English Language of KBSU, Ph.D., Associate Professor Larisa Dzasezheva said that language reflects the nuances of gender relations very clearly.

As the roles of men and women in society transformed, the structure of language and word formation itself changed.

Head of the Department of History of Russia at KBSU, Ph.D., Associate Professor Zareta Soblirova presented the report “Transformation of the gender role of women in Kabardino-Balkaria during the years of Soviet modernization.”

The report “Gender Equality: The Labor Market Resists” was dedicated by Bella Kazieva, Deputy Director of the IPEiF KBSU, to the problem of the gender gap in wages.

As part of the discussion panel “Woman in the Profession,” Zalina Shogentsukova, Deputy Director of the IPEiF for Science, Ph.D. in Economics, Associate Professor, Consultant of the UNESCO Department, made a report “Accountant is a Women’s Profession.”

Fatima Kyarova, assistant at the Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law of KBSU, spoke about the position of women in the field of jurisprudence.

The report of Zhanna Mirzoeva, a member of the International Federation of Women with Higher Education, Ph.D., associate professor, consultant of the UNESCO department, is devoted to issues of UNESCO support for women scientists.

The second section of the event was a scientific and practical student seminar of the UNESCO Department. The discussion of gender equality issues took place at two discussion platforms: “Supporting women in the legal field” and “Supporting women in the business environment.”

2nd year student of the direction 03/38/04 State and municipal administration Darina Seeva made a report “Regulatory documents on the protection of women’s rights from abuse and violence.”

3rd year student of the direction 40.03.01 Jurisprudence Oleg Gubzhokov presented a report “The development of feminism and its relevance for improving women’s rights.”

2nd year student of the direction 03/38/04 State and municipal administration Alfiya Uzdenova spoke about the protection of women’s rights by law in her report “On Gender Superiority”.

Assistant at the Department of Economics and Accounting and Analytical Information Systems, 3rd year student, direction 40.03.01 Jurisprudence, master’s program “Financial Law; tax law» Lana Murtazova conducted a study «Social and economic aspects of women’s entrepreneurship» based on materials from the North Caucasus Federal District.

The event was concluded with a report from the initiator of the startup project “Creating a mobile application “NartSagas”,” 1st year student in the “Linguistics” department Susana Vologirova, who shared her experience in developing and defending her final qualifying work as a startup.

As a result of the last seminar, it was decided to organize a discussion club on the site of the UNESCO Department with the involvement of the youth parliament to discuss key issues of sustainable development of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic.
