A meeting of students with composer Dzhabrail Khaupa took place at KBSU
Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov held a meeting with the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, People’s Artist of Kabardino-Balkaria, laureate of the State Prize of the Kabardino-Balkaria, laureate of the Union of Composers of Russia. Students of philological directions, activists of the Center for Adyghe Culture named after A.A. Tsipinov KBSU and university staff received a unique opportunity to hear the wise word of a living classic of Adyghe music. His work is known far beyond the North Caucasus. Dzhabrail Khaupa is a respected teacher who has mentored many talented students and is a unique expert on the Adyghe oral traditions known as Adyghe khabze.
Addressing the students, Dzhabrail Khaupa emphasized that literature is an integral part of spiritual life:
All spirituality is contained in works of art, especially classical ones. Reading quality literature is an important aspect of personal development.
The maestro shared his childhood memories, noting the importance of his teachers, spoke about his creative path and the need for special training for this. He dedicated the reading of his own works to the memory of his maternal grandfather, Bekmurza Pachev.
Bekmurza Pachev is the founder of Kabardian literature. In the second half of the 19th century, he created the Adyghe alphabet based on the Arabic language and wrote poetry in it. His songs are still sung by the people today.
