A lesson for the young from the former leaders of the student council of KBSU

About how the student council of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov, who was its first leader, what principles were guided by student activists of past years and what they are now, was discussed at a meeting held on November 16, 2022, on the eve of International Students Day. A storm of applause was greeted by the students of the founder of the KBSU Student Council, Aues Kumykov, who had worked at the university for a long time, from 2012 to 2018 — as vice-rector for educational work and social issues of KBSU, now vice-rector for educational, social work and youth policy of KBGAU named after V.M. Kokov; Azamat Lyuev, currently Minister of Youth Affairs of the KBR; Akhmed Autlov, Deputy Head of the Integrated Security Department, Director of the Center for Anti-Terrorist Security for the Prevention of Extremism, KBSU; Mirland Kazanchev.

Tomorrow marks 31 years since the first student council was established. I will be happy to tell you how all this was carried out and what problems there were during its creation. Student years are the best time of your life, but no one but yourself will make it interesting. Therefore, use all the opportunities that the university provides you, so that later you can proudly remember how you studied, made friends, loved and rejoiced at KBSU, — Aues Kumykov addressed the current activists from among the KBSU students with a welcoming speech.

The first head of the student council of KBSU told how back in 1991, on the instructions of the rector of KBSU, Vladimir Tlostanov, he went to Moscow State University, where at that time there was the only student council in the country. Upon returning, Aues Kumykov, together with a team of like-minded people, developed the position of the future structural unit of the university, which was published in the newspaper «University Life» for general acquaintance, discussion and proposals.

Upon completion of the necessary organizational procedures, on November 17, 1991, the student council of KBSU was created — the second after Moscow State University. Azamat Lyuyev also noted that for him, work in the student council is a whole life that he is proud of. Thanks to the student council, he made real friends for life, wise mentors and the main life principle, which he follows now, is to be indifferent to people. The Student Council unites, educates and gives way to life,” — Akhmed Autlov shared his work experience.

According to Mirland Kazanchev, work in the university student council contributes to self-realization: you can develop your best strengths. When asked from the audience what a student leader should be, Aues Kumykov answered: «If you know how to captivate your peers, infect them with your idea, then you have succeeded. Be creative, active, and everything will work out for you.

Ahmed Autlov added: «The main task of the student council is to protect the rights and interests of students. In parting words to future successors in the positions of chairmen of the student councils of the university’s educational departments, as well as the head of the general student council of KBSU, experienced colleagues advised them to create a team of people striving for a common goal and supporting their leader, to keep the traditions of the student council of KBSU, to be indifferent and self-confident. Concluding the meeting, the guests congratulated the students on the upcoming holiday, wishing them success in achieving their goals».

KUMYKOV AUES MUKHAMEDOVICH (from 1991 to 1997)

Founder of the student council of KBSU, worked at the university for a long time, from 2012 to June 2018 he was vice-rector for educational work and social issues of KBSU. During the years of his activity, A.M. Kumykov laid the foundations of the student council, it was he who outlined the main directions of work with youth. He also created the administrative structure of the student council, which remains to this day. Today, Aues Mukhamedovich is Vice-Rector for Educational, Social Work and Youth Policy of the Kabardino-Balkarian State Agrarian University named after V.M. Kokov.

KHUTOV ZAUR ADAMOVICH (from 1997 to 2004)

During the work of Z.A. Khutov, a large number of events were held. The Student Council under his leadership participated in the KVN Start League in Voronezh, in the North Caucasian Festival of Artistic Creativity «Student Spring of the Caucasus» both as participants and as organizers. Today Zaur Adamovich is the director of the educational and production studio of KBSU.

MAMSIROV ALIM HAMIDBIEVICH (from 2004 to 2007)

Under the leadership of A.Kh. Mamsirov, students participated in major events, won prizes in the republican «Student Spring», took part in various international competitions. Today Alim Khamidbievich is an employee of the IPEiF, associate professor of the Department of Economics and Management in Tourism.

LYUEV AZAMAT HASEYNOVICH (from 2007 to 2016)

Under the leadership of Azamat Haseinovich, the first volunteer organization «Goodwill» was created in the republic, student and pedagogical teams appeared in KBSU, active work was carried out with the socially unprotected category of students. In 2010, the Student Council of KBSU entered the top 5 of the competition «The Best Student Self-Government Body of the Russian Federation». Currently, he is the Minister for Youth Affairs of the KBR.

AUTLOV AKHMED AKHEDOVICH (from 2016 to 2019)

During the period of work of A.A. Autlov educational and patriotic camp «Avgusgenok» took first place in the ranking of educational camps throughout Russia. Supported all areas of student activity. To date, Akhmed Autlov is the Deputy Head of the Integrated Security Department, Director of the Center for Anti-Terrorist Security for the Prevention of Extremism at KBSU.

KAZANCHEV MIRLAND AKHMEDOVICH (from 2019 to 2022)

Activities of M.A. Kazanchev was based on the development of several directions at once, but student media became the leading one. At the initiative of the student council of KBG’U under the direction of M.A. Kazanchev, the «Media Center of KBSU» was opened. The development of mass cultural work among students was actively supported.
