Today, as part of the Government Hour, Russian Minister of Higher Education and Science Valery Falkov shared data on budget admission to universities with State Duma deputies, as reported on the official website of the Russian Union of Rectors.

“Since 2020, on the instructions of the President, we have consistently increased the number of budget places at universities. The task has been accomplished today: the availability of higher education in the country has increased significantly. The number of budget places this year compared to 2020 has increased by more than 50 thousand. Another 30 thousand places have been allocated to universities in new regions. As a result, today over 60% of 11th-grade graduates have the opportunity to enroll in full-time universities on budget places,” — Falkov said.

According to him, almost 75% of the allocated budget places are at regional universities.

The number of school and college graduates who entered a university in their region is increasing: in 2023, almost 54% of graduates entered the budget for first-level higher education programs in their region.
