57th Place! KBSU Is Rising In National University Rating

The Interfax International Information Group presented the results of the X Annual National Ranking of Universities for the 2018/2019 academic year, in which the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H. M. Berbekov rose by 4 steps, taking the 57th position among the leading universities of Russia.

In 2019, the National University Ranking expanded the list of participants: the work of 327 leading universities in Russia was evaluated, which is 39 more than last year. In addition, the activity of regional universities in communications with developers of the rating has noticeably increased.

The ranking includes all of the country’s status universities: 29 national research universities, 10 federal, 33 core, 21 universities participating in the Project 5-100, as well as seven non-state universities

The activities of universities were evaluated by six parameters: education, research, social environment, international and interregional cooperation, innovation, and the university brand.

In addition to the summary and parametric assessments of the activities of domestic universities, in the 2019 ranking, the assessment of the activities of universities in certain important areas was applied: work with schools and young people, programs of additional education, etc.

The assessment was carried out based on the results of processing the data from the survey, the public data available, placed by universities on their websites, the public data of the information resources of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science of the Russian Federation, as well as data from the SPARK information and analytical system (www.spark-interfax.ru) SCAN media environments.

In the summary ranking, the list of the best universities in Russia is headed by Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, the second place was taken by the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, the third — the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT).

Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H. M. Berbekov rose from 61 to 57 position in 2019 in this rating, sharing it with Perm National Research Polytechnic University.

Such a rapid rise of KBSU is the result of the implementation of the university’s chosen development strategy. Qualitative improvement of education has become possible due to infrastructure changes, the introduction of new teaching, scientific and laboratory equipment and innovative educational programs, expanding the range of social programs, cooperation of the university with high-tech companies, as well as increasing the number of foreign students. In addition, the indicators of the university in innovation, technology and research activities have increased, which, of course, influenced the rating, but most importantly, it ensured the improvement of the competitiveness of the university at the national and global levels of the higher education system.
